ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Story behind "portrait de cygne"

This swan was wandering peacefully in a pond very close to a medieval castle. It regularly dipped its head under the water in search of food. The sun was shining. Its white plumage was dazzling. I settled on the banks amidst the coming and going of dragonflies and the incessant croaking of frogs. Suddenly, it lifted its head out of the water, completely sparkling in the light, its plumage studded with tiny droplets. It is this exact moment that I wanted to capture in my painting.

The Count of Buffon was right when he said: "The swan decorates and embellishes every place it frequents."

With their immaculate whiteness, these majestic birds have always symbolized beauty and purity.

I enthrone in the azure like an misunderstood sphinx;I unite a heart of snow to the whiteness of swans.
