ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In this work titled "Louveteau," I chose to paint in oil on a wood support. This medium provides a unique texture that resonates with the wild and mineral nature of the subject.

For this composition, I represented the cub from a high-angle perspective, capturing its careful and deliberate movement as it advances. My work focused on the contrast between the young animal's dark coat and the warm, earthy tones of the ground. I paid particular attention to the rendering of the gaze and the fineness of the fur to convey the intensity characteristic of young predators.

The 18 x 22 cm format maintains an intimate proximity with the subject, offering a close-up view of this moment in the wild. In this piece, I sought a balance between technical precision and the natural atmosphere of the environment.

Exerpt from the book: "An Artist's Passion: Wildlife Art and Nature"

As a child, my grandmother used to sing me the famous nursery rhyme, 'Let's walk in the woods while the wolf is away...' and would tell me ancient family stories about this animal. The wolf—hated, hunted, and slaughtered—has always provoked, and will always provoke, either fear and dread or admiration and passion. In many ways, its social organization is similar to our own: communication, hierarchy, territoriality, the education of the young, and the sharing of tasks during the hunt. It is a mirror of all human emotions.

In France, only a handful remain, gradually repopulating the southeast. Discreet and elusive, it is rare to catch a glimpse of one; only a few tracks confirm its presence."
