Home of The Civic League Park - International Water Lily Collection - open annually from April to October

Located in the heart of Civic League Park in San Angelo, Texas, the International Waterlily Collection is one of the largest public collections of water lilies in the world. This year-round water garden features an exceptional diversity of tropical and hardy water lilies, including many rare and hybrid varieties.
This unique collection is the work of Ken Landon, botanical enthusiast and explorer nicknamed “the Indiana Jones of water lilies” for his expeditions in search of rare plants around the world. In the 1970s, Landon transformed a dilapidated pond in the park into a floral sanctuary, collecting endangered species and creating remarkable hybrids, such as the famous Nymphaea ‘Texas Dawn’, designated the official water lily of the State of Texas in 2011.
The optimum flowering period is from May to October, offering a colorful spectacle that attracts thousands of visitors, botanical enthusiasts, photographers and families every year. The site also hosts LilyFest, an annual event celebrating the beauty of water lilies and the legacy of Ken Landon.
