Nympheus Luminansis, Behind the scenes
The creation of the exhibition “Nympheus Luminansis, les nymphéas de la lumière” is a true artistic adventure, combining passion, dedication and sharing. Exchanges with David J. Wagner, museum curators and all the art lovers we have met along the way have all contributed to the birth of this exhibition. This support is and will remain an invaluable source of motivation and inspiration.
Equipment & Techniques
To capture light in all its splendor and sublimate it through the water lilies, I used the finest products of French craftsmanship. High-quality linen canvas, luminous pigments and fine brushes were my tools of choice. I used oil paint to add depth and texture to each work.
A story of passing time
Each painting is the fruit of hundreds of hours of painstaking work. Each work required several months' work to achieve what I was looking for in terms of rendering. Painting sessions follow one another day after day in the serene atmosphere of my studio, which allows for optimum concentration.
Inspiration and Creative Process
The inspiration behind “Nympheus Luminansis” comes from contemplating Claude Monet's water garden at Giverny, where water lilies become “jewels” illuminated by light and color. My creative process has been punctuated by interactions with nature in my garden or near my home, where every emotion feeds my creativity and imagination.
Challenges & Discoveries
The path was not without pitfalls. Finding the right color combination to authentically represent light has been a daunting challenge. However, every obstacle has been an opportunity to perfect my artistic approach. These experiences have often led to unexpected and enriching discoveries.
