Nympheus Luminansis, Water Lilies of Light, is a series of paintings paying tribute to Claude Monet's famous water garden and his water lilies, the result of eight years of research and creation. Presented in an international museum exhibition, it invites viewers to explore the heart of color and light.

“In each painting, shapes and silhouettes can reveal themselves to the viewer depending on their perception, creating a unique dialogue with the work. This phenomenon, known as pareidolia, adds a poetic and playful dimension to the contemplation of colors and textures.” Laurence Saunois

Behind the scene

Autumn is the artist's favorite season. She finds it to be unmatched in its chromatic richness, like a final celebration of nature before winter. In this painting, she has chosen to depict the reflections of the vegetation surrounding Claude Monet's water garden, bathed in the flamboyant colors of the season. The foliage, in all its diversity, is reflected in the water, creating a veritable explosion of shimmering, vibrant hues.
In this composition, the water lilies are imbued with reflections from a calm sky. These soft, luminous shades contrast with the energy of the autumnal colors that animate the entire scene. One particular element catches the eye: a willow branch, placed at the top right of the canvas. Its presence discreetly punctuates the scene and guides the viewer's gaze to the bottom of the pond.
The painting illustrates the artist's desire to convey the intensity of the emotions that nature inspires in her at this time of year. For her, autumn is a time of transition, between brilliance and fragility, between abundance and austerity. These contrasts are echoed in the painting: the vigor of the colors responds to the serenity of the sky that colors the water lilies, like a visual echo of the duality of life.
With Couleurs d'automne, Laurence Saunois offers an immersion in a fleeting moment when nature reveals itself in all its splendor. This painting reflects her desire to capture, through painting, the transient beauty of the reflections and lights that transform the landscape into a living artwork.
