Each painting by Nympheus Luminansis gives rise to dozens of new works. Photographed at the heart of the creative process, the “Couleurs de Palettes” reveal the gestures, materials, and colors that gave rise to the original work.

How the Colors of Palettes Come to Be

While creating a painting, I use several palettes to prepare colors, mixtures, and shades. Between each new session, I photograph the palette. Each detail then becomes a composition in its own right—one that cannot be replicated—transforming the painter’s tool into a work of art in its own right.
